Fall / Winter 2020/2021 registration - October 7th, 2020 message
Registration will be available (via Amilia) next week (Week of October 12), an email will be sent to last year's skaters. Given all the restrictions in place, priority will be given to skaters from last year to facilitate the classes. Since last week (code orange), the restrictions are even greater and the allowed number of participants was lowered.
The CanSkate and PowerSkating classes will start no earlier than the weekend of October 17, 2020.
Here are the CanSkate lessons that will be offered:
CanSkate 3-4 years old
Saturday 1:20 p.m. - 1:50 p.m. (30 minutes) - 18 seats
Saturday 2:05 p.m. - 2:35 p.m. (30 minutes) - 18 places
Saturday 2:50 p.m. - 3:20 p.m. (30 minutes) - 18 places
CanSkate 5+ years
Sunday 3:30 p.m. - 4:20 p.m. (50 minutes) - 21 seats
Sunday 4:35 p.m. - 5:25 p.m. (50 minutes) - 21 seats
Sunday 5:40 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (50 minutes) - 21 seats
Schedule to come
P.S. Please note that we are doing everything we can to maintain our CanSkate and PowerSkating programs this season but we have to compose with several restrictions from Patinage Qc and the city. The hours of ice available this season are lower for various reasons (COVID, arena closure in the city).

Fall-Winter 2020-2021 session -Message posted 21-AUG-2020
Hello, this message is to inform you that there will be a Fall-Winter 2020-2021 session however given the current situation with COVID-19, there will be several changes and restrictions in place.
There is an enormous amount of work (volunteer as we administrators are all unpaid volunteers) so please be patient and visit our website for information in early September. We are working very hard to put everything in place for the Fall-Winter session as soon as possible.
The Fall-Winter 2020-2021 session officially begins on Tuesday, September 8th, but we currently have not yet received the information for the hours that will be allocated by the City so the schedule is not yet available. For CanSkate, lessons will most likely be on Saturdays and Sundays only. Two arenas (Campeau and Guertin) were recently closed/made unavailable and this will have a considerable impact on the hours available for organizations like ours (each organization is affected because the total number of hours across the City is lower and the distribution is done according to the number of hours and not by sector).
There will be CanSkate and PowerSkating courses, registration will only start after the 1st week of September and the start of classes will be at the end of September for CanSkate at the earliest; for PowerSkating the lessons will start as soon as possible.
There are many changes for CanSkate including the maximum number of participants per session as well as the procedure; there can only be one accompanying parent per child (no other person can enter the arena). However, we must wait for instructions from the City because currently only skaters can enter the arena, no spectators or parents are allowed. For CanSkate (5+ years old), skaters must have obtained badge 2 which means that they can skate and get up after falling without assistance on the ice as no contact will be allowed between coaches and skaters. For Pre CanSkate (3-4 years); the groups will be smaller and the rules will be adapted; only certain people wearing protective equipment (gloves, glasses, etc.) will be able to assist children.
Priority will be given to skaters for the 2019-2020 season; there will be a pre-registration once everything is in place in September; an email will be sent to them when we are ready to proceed.
We are currently in the process of setting up a new registration system (software), Amilia, which will be available in the 1st week of September. Once registration is available the information will be posted on our website.
President CPA Asticou
Private lessons (semi-private) will start on September 8; these lessons are reserved for those who were already in private lessons during the past season (Fall-Winter and Summer). Given the restrictions in place and Patinage Qc's guidelines, we cannot accept new skaters for the Fall session at this time.
Private (semi-private) lessons are normally (this was the case pre CoVID-19) only accessible by invitation by a coach so it is not possible to simply register for these lessons.
Here is how private lessons work:
- Coaches select/invite the children they wish to teach to join their group (depending on available spots); normally this is done for CanSkate children who are invited to take private (semi-private) lessons. The club does not assign coaches; coaches act as independent workers for private (semi-private) lessons; the same coach will teach the child throughout the season if the skater accepts the invitation.
- When a skater goes to private lessons, he must pay the ice fees for the session (Ex: private Fall-Winter session) in progress at the club.
- The skater (or parent) must then enter into an agreement with the coach and must pay (pay) the instruction fee for each skating session directly to the coach.
